UK Electricity Tariff Comparison for Heat Pump & EV Households
This tool was created in 2025 after switching to an Octopus Cosy heat pump tariff in July of that year. With a time of use tariff offering cheaper rates during specific windows, the question became obvious: is this actually the best deal, and how does it compare to other tariffs given my real usage pattern?
Mainstream comparison sites calculate costs based on average consumption figures — they don't account for when you use electricity. For time of use and dynamic tariffs like Cosy, Agile, or Economy 7, this makes their comparisons largely meaningless. The only way to get an accurate picture is to apply your actual half-hourly smart meter readings to each tariff's rates.
That gap is what Heat Pump Tariffs fills. It's free to use and open to anyone who wants a genuine, data-driven answer to the question: what's the best tariff for how I actually use energy?
Heat Pump Tariffs is a free tool that helps UK electricity customers understand how much they could save by switching energy tariff. Upload your smart meter data and we'll compare your usage against a wide range of tariffs — from standard single-rate plans to Economy 7, Time of Use, and Octopus dynamic pricing.
Comparison results are estimates only, based on the tariff rates and meter reading data available at the time. They do not account for future rate changes, standing charges may vary, and results should not be treated as financial advice. Always verify rates directly with the supplier before making any switching decision.
We do not switch your supplier on your behalf. Any supplier referral links on the site may result in us receiving a referral fee, but this does not influence the comparison results.
We take your privacy seriously. Your meter reading data is used solely to run comparisons on your behalf and is never sold or shared with third parties for marketing. You can delete your account and all associated data at any time from your account settings. See our Privacy Policy for full details.
